Louisa moved to Raven Falls to make a better life for herself. But "better" isn't working out so well. Her apartment is a dive, her boss might as well be possessed, and the sweet dog she brought home isn't actually a dog. Not that the exceedingly attractive naked man in her bed isn't a step up—but it would be nice if she knew who the hell he was… or how he got there.
Jack has always put his clan first and his desires second—until Louisa. Her dark curls and warm, vanilla scent ignite a fire within him that he can't quite shake. Sure, he can transform into a seven-foot monster, but he deserves love as much as the next guy. Knee-deep in a dangerous investigation, memories missing, and a bullet wound in his shoulder, Jack doesn't have time to dawdle with a certain brunette… even if she is waving a baseball bat in his face.
Unless he takes her with him.
Kidnapped and pissed off, Louisa wants nothing to do with the sexy shifter and even less to do with his secret world of monsters and nightmares. But the longer she spends with Jack, the less she can deny the odd pull between them, or that he might just be the "better life" she was looking for all along.

so what does she do? she brings him home, of course. let's ignore the fact that her constant jostling could reopen wounds. let's also ignore the fact that she, for some reason, feeds him a PB&J sandwich... as if she doesn't work at a clinic where there's most certainly dog food available. i know that's just a result of the author not wanting to force the ML to eat dog food, but it's lazy writing.
also, the "mean boss" thing was so overdone (why would they even hire the FL if they hate her that much??).
and then when the "patient's" "owners" (the ML's friends) arrive to take the dog home, the FL is somewhat rude towards them and says that the dog has to stay a few more days for observation. girl, what are you observing???? you're toting him back to your apartment every night, so i'm not sure why it'd be any different if the "owners" took him home... but anyway. anyone with any experience working in a clinic should know better than to act the way this FL does.
2. the ML smashes the FL over the head with a lamp and kidnaps her, but if course the FL still finds him attractive.
also, the phrase "expanding cleavage" is used.

The cover and the title of this entertaining book give off the vibe that this will be one of 'those' novels... the kind that you read for simple enjoyment only, not expecting a plot or any sort of depth. There is nothing wrong with those books, I read plenty of them, but THIS is NOT one of those novels.Far from it. Despite the cover and cringe worthy title, this book is flat out hilarious - and quite interesting plot wise. It ebbs and flows, dragging the reader through a brand new world with new rules, different mythology and a creation story that leads to the drama and angst suffusing the world today. In this pain and loss, drops a human... and a shifter who just happens to change into a dog.
It's delightful, hot, intriguing and far more emotional than I was expecting. And this is just BOOK 1! While a HEA is attained for these two star crossed lovers, the metaplot is still brewing, leading to other HEA's and far more action.
Pros:
~ Surprisingly complex.
~ Good use of Multiple POV.
~ Great Character Development.
~ Downright hilarious - the interactions between characters are sooo funny!
Cons:
~ Need more info on Louisa, who is she really?
~Horrible cover and title for the content, but still funny.

Ending Type

Jack and Louisa were a dynamic pair that sizzled, amused and tantalised me. An exciting story that was not lacking in all the good juicy bits. It was light and airy, it was dark and glorious. The story was energetic, adventurous and full of drama. Engaging with the characters was effortless, and the story glided along effortlessly. 4 stars.
The banter between them is on point! They are so funny and the chemistry was fantastic! I can't wait to read more of this world.

My only annoyance was how often her hands and feet and body were described as small. It's not a big deal but it just annoys me the authors continue to write small women as the norm.

This was fine. It was cute. I gave it my best shot as a palette cleanser between heavier books, and then eventually just decided I didn't really care what happened. The plot is pretty predictable, I'm sure I could read the last chapter and understand the whole book. I was brought to this book by Tiktok, which sold it as "a woman living with a dog finds out he's not a dog!" and honestly I was hoping that part of the story would consume more of than a few pages, but oh well. Also, he full on hits her over the head with a lamp and knocks her out, all while claiming he's obsessed with her. Seems like an insane action.
The FMC is annoyingly juvenile. Says things like "girly bits", and has a perpetual annoying inner dialogue running. Trying very hard to be twee and cute, and it only works sometimes.

This is one heck of an interesting love story indeed. Funny, exciting and so cute. Makes you giddy, smile and jump in suspense. I was initially avoiding such reading material thinking its better to watch on big screen but it was fun and enjoyable afterall.
Louisa is tired. Her shiny new beginning has turned into another dreary day. Her boss is pure evil, her co-worker a useless lump, her apartment a dump, and now she's bringing home a pushy canine. Although, the cute naked guy in her bed is great eye candy, the fright of discovering a naked man in her apartment, in her bed, negates the happiness his butt ignited. Being clobbered with her own lamp finished off the attraction.

Ok, so plot holes you can drive a truck through, but a lot of fun. The curse that created them sure left a lot for interpretation. It was mentioned they became the animals they took care of. Most people don't keep bears. And exotic birds don't mesh with the timeline stated. Tigers? Tribes are mentioned, which says pre, or just beyond, settler days. Parrots wouldn't be pets then, tigers wouldn't be here. Dogs not far removed from wolves, sure. Domesticated crows, certain extinct in the wild parakeets, bobcats, ok. Almost every pet we know as pets came from settlers. Horses, most dogs, cats, birds we know as pets, all came over as invaders settled and domesticated America. Or later on as pet trades started up, much closer to modern times. I did love the banter. Shifters let it fly. Literally. Words, furniture, everything. I mentioned plot holes. Two glaring ones really bother me. Immediately after being told investigators are looking for them, both go right up the road from the police station and eat in a diner. No takeout, next town over for groceries, nope. Bold and public. The other was right after a pointless dinner with his family. He gets scared and sends her home. Where investigators know where she lives and works. Where no one is there to protect her in her crappy apartment. And how did she stay employed disappearing for a week, but get fired for being gone a couple days? A tech does a lot of the work at a vet's office, but how does an office stay open if the vet is gone half the day, the receptionist does nothing and the tech is only legally allowed to do so much? Beyond the curse contradictions and plot hangups, the story was fun. The dialogue flowed, the resolution wasn't completely out of nowhere, and, for shifters it wasn't insta-love. There was actual bondin- on a quick timeline, sure, but bonding. I enjoyed it and will look for the next.
Louisa is down on her luck. She moved to Raven Falls, Maine for a fresh start but is far from welcome in this small town. She has a horrible boss, nasty apartment, and about to give up on fitting in. That is until a handsome man wakes up beside her and claims to be the dog, he is absolutely crazy, right?
Jack is injured and dropped at a veterinary clinic. So, when he can't immediately change back to human, he decides that Louisa, the girl that smells like cookies, is not going to leave him in the kennel overnight. After changing human in his sleep, he freaked out Louisa, the girl he should leave behind, does the wrong thing, and takes her with him.
Louisa is done with being bossed around. She is ready to take an active role in her life and it shows in the escape attempts, witty banter, and hijinks that she gets into with Jack. There is a healthy amount of sexual tension between them but with the kidnapping and the danger Jack is in, they are hesitant to go full speed into a relationship. Great plot twist with the investigation angle that Jack is working. There is one minor plot point that isn't wrapped up fully which hopefully will be resolved in the next book (it might be part of the plot that carries over or part of the aha moment at the end so not sure if it was supposed to be wrapped up or not and was a little unclear).
Also, the couples/characters of at least 2 books were hinted at in the last couple of chapters. I personally would have liked more direct hints for the next book's couple and the two subsequent pairings' meeting in the book would have sufficed.
Overall, a fun read that was exactly what I needed. Definitely continuing in the series.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I was blown away. I love a good paranormal romance but this book exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book to the Raven Falls cursed romance series and it was a perfect beginning. I could not put this book down for anything. The storyline drew me in and I wanted to know what happened. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book.Louisa moves to Raven Falls to start a new life. She is having trouble with her new life. Louisa can't stand her new boss and her new apartment is gross. She is working her unbearable shift when a cute dog is brought into the vet she works for. Louisa falls in love with this dog instantly. She ends up taking this dog home with her. When she wakes up in the morning she finds a naked man and her dog is gone. Louisa fights her attacker but she ends up in his care. She is about to find out that there are more than just monsters hiding in her world. Louisa is dragged into a world that she knows nothing about and she has to trust the man that kidnapped her. Will Louisa get back home will she want to stay in this scary world?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and mystery. You can't help but to fall in love with these characters. Louisa had a hard childhood but she doesn't let that define her. She wants to find a good guy that will protect her. Jack is a shifter and he has always put his clan first. He feels a deep connection to Louisa that won't go away. The way he treats her will make you swoon. This talented author will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

Jack is a thoughtful, kind, charming guy who happens to sprout fur. Oh I think I forgot charisma
This is a crazy laugh out loud story. It is full of antics and things that make you go"WHA? Did she just do that?" I can see why Jack is so enamored with Louisa. The way she acts just puts a smile on my face. Her singing in the rotted out house? Such a wonderful add!! Don't worry there are many more crazy things that happen to Louisa or Jack. Even their language to each other puts a smile on my face.Jack is a thoughtful, kind, charming guy who happens to sprout fur. Oh I think I forgot charismatic and sexy with abs like a washboard. I was surprised at how light Jack was considering his job in the Den. I thought it would make him dark and broody. The lightness in him does help transmit his golden boy looks though. While he feels a connection to Louisa he is not...NOT her mate. The more he tells himself that doesn't make it true. Louisa is sassy and smart and I love her whole hair issue. She seemed so easy going about the whole shifter thing. She doesn't deny her feelings for Jack which is nice.
The secondary characters add just as much fun and laughter to this story as the main characters. I felt they deserve a mention as they are well rounded and I can't wait to see their stories.
I was not a fan of the Epilogue simply because it gave away ending information for the next book. This is a first time author for me and I really enjoyed her writing style. Although the book did seem a bit long and at times brought in characters and dropped them..never to be seen again. Overall I loved the story and the characters and have already purchased the second in the series.

Now, I do have some mixed feels about this book. The opening is drawing, dark, and it pulls you in right away. I was flipping the pages, just sucked into this book. Meeting Louisa, was a treat, she's fierce, sassy, and just my kind of woman. I loved her and Jack's chemistry, how they play off one another, the banter, and it brought life to the read and helped off set that darkness that was lurking around. Now for the mixed feels, as the supernatural elements got more involved, the detail tapered off, and characters kept popping up, and the plot got a little, messy. I had to reread some parts, but once I got everyone straighten, things got clear. I think another edit will help there, and made be even take somethings out. I feel like the author got flooded of ides, and tried to get it all down at once.
Overall this read was intreating, and I very much enjoyed the romance side of it. The MC's were strong, and helped carried this story when things got hectic. So please take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will fall for these MC's, and get caught in their crazy adventure.
Happy Reading

Things are not going as she expected. Louisa is strong, independent, feisty, and stubborn. She too feels a pull towards Jack. What does the future hold for Jack and Louisa? Read this book to find out. This story had me both turning pages wondering what was going to happen next and also feeling the temperature in the room rise when reading of the romantic moments. I found myself hoping for Jack and Louisa to find happiness. I enjoyed the bantering that goes back and forth between them. I also enjoyed the additional characters that you are introduced to. Many of them are helpful to Jack and Louisa. Then there are those who have their own plans and agenda. Don't miss out on a book that you won't want to put down until you have read the final page. I highly recommend it.

Reading this book was a huge risk for me as this is a genre I've never read before and I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to get into the book or enjoy it. Well, all my worrying was unfounded, I absolutely loved this book.
Louisa has moved to Raven Falls for a new start in life. She's not liking her new life very much when things take a very unusual turn. She awakes one morning to find Jack, the adorable dog that she's taken home from her work in a vet's surgery, has turned into a very handsome, naked man in her bed. Needless to say she doesn't believe this at first as how can a dog turn into a man!
Louisa is soon drawn into Jack's world of shifters and the paranormal and has to rethink her whole outlook on life. I loved the characters of Jack and Louisa. Louisa is witty and sassy and has a smart answer for everything, whereas Jack is just so sweet and adorable, well except when he turns into a 7 foot monster!
This story is fast paced and full of suspense. As well as the growing romance between Jack and Louisa, the storyline is intriguing and had me gripped the whole way through.
I'm so glad I took the risk and read this book. I look forward to reading more from this series.
